Initiatives

While Base Capital’s main focus remains providing corporate finance, business and strategic advice, it continues to explore opportunities that are presented in the market and through the relationships with its various business associates and partners. These include:

Enterprise Development
Enterprise Development has become an important and key component of the South African Government’s drive to address socio economic inequalities in South Africa. All meaningful empowerment initiatives driven by both the public and private sectors need to ensure that Enterprise Development becomes a workable reality across industries. Base Capital is working with its partners to ensure it adequately contributes in this regard and that all stakeholders benefit from the initiatives. Further detail will  be posted in this regard as initaives are brought to fruition.

Property Industry
Base Capital has grown its expertise in the Property Industry through its participation in Ethembeni Park , an affordable housing development in Boksburg (www.ethembenipark.co.za). This participation has extended beyond its shareholding into capital raising and the ongoing financial management of Ethembeni Property Developers. Further property development opportunities are being explored by Base Capital and its business partners through Arrow Equity. The ongoing involvement in property is anticipated to include Base Capital’s involvement in a financial advisory and capital raising capacity, as well as direct participation in the project teams on selected transactions.

Employee Ownership
Base Capital has been appointed by iNCLUSIVE Business Group (Pty) Ltd to assist in formulating a platform to facilitate the creation of an employee-owned business (“EOB”) model. The model has been structured taking into account successful business cases that have been adopted globally. The objectives of the EOB model are specifically aimed to:

  • facilitate meaningful employee ownership participation in private enterprises operating in South Africa and over time into Africa ; and
  • ensure that employees at all levels within the organisation participate meaningfully in the running of their respective EOBs.

Mining Opportunities
Base Capital has established relationships with various individuals and entities that operate in the mining industry. While this has not been a key focus for the company, a decision has been made to explore these relationships further and utilise these associations to the mutual benefit of its partners. Africa represents a vast geographic area of resources which have been exploited with little benefit flowing to the surrounding communities. Base Capital intends on ensuring that the transactions it does become involved in, will facilitate the meaningful participation of all stakeholders.
